I graduated from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul in the spring of 2010, where I majored in sociology and journalism. I've gone to Mali, Africa as a student sociologist. Just a week after graduation, I packed up and moved to Fargo, N.D. for a job with Minnesota Public Radio in neighboring Moorhead, Minn. A few years later I moved out to sunny Denver, Colo.
I grew up in a family of 11 on the edge of Lake Superior in Superior, Wis. It's a beautiful area that I try to visit as often as possible. I saw much of it while working toward my Boy Scouts of America Eagle Scout award.
My father works at the Arrowhead Library System on Minnesota's Iron Range. My mother runs a day care. Both are wonderful watercolor artists. Of my sibings who've graduated college, I've stayed closest to home. One of my older sisters lives in Japan (check out her blog), the other in New Zealand.
I'm married to Annemarie Rodriguez, a 1st-grade teacher from Madison, Wis. and the love of my life. We like to travel together and plan to retire as state park campground hosts in northern Minnesota one day.
I'm a digital reporter and producer at Colorado Public Radio in Denver. Before that I did online production work for Minnesota Public Radio, the largest regional radio news network in the nation. Check out my résumé (pdf) for more details.
